Gazetting Te Whāriki survey

Overview

The Ministry is consulting on expanding the legal curriculum framework for licensed early childhood services and certified playgroups by including the goals and learning outcomes of Te Whāriki: He whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa (Te Whāriki).

Currently, the prescribed curriculum framework is the principles and strands of Te Whāriki, except for kōhanga reo affiliated with Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust. This change will make the goals and learning outcomes of Te Whāriki part of the prescribed curriculum framework for licensed early childhood services and certified playgroups.

This survey asks for your feedback on the proposal to:

• expand the prescribed framework to include the full framework of the principles, strands, goals and learning outcomes of Te Whāriki; and
• include a te ao Māori interpretation of the goals and learning outcomes of Te Whāriki in the prescribed curriculum framework.
