Overview

Ko te pūtake o tēnei Tōpu rangatahi, hei whakawahawaha i ngā whakaaro, i ngā tirohanga a te hunga Rangatahi me tōna ao mātauranga o roto i a Tāmaki Makau Rau.

The purpose of the Auckland YAG is to establish a forum for youth to share their experiences and perspectives on education with the regional Ministry of Education in Tāmaki Makaurau. 

Please note you must be between 12 and 18 to apply for the Youth Advisory Group. You can apply individually or as a pair. You can submit your application in te reo or English. 

The standard term of appointment (or tenure) for each member will be one year. This will be a commitment to two face to face meetings a term but will include other “background’ work.

Applications close Friday 18 June.                                                               

The Youth Advisory Group is expected to have:

- gender diversity

- ethnic diversity

- regional diversity across Auckland

- disability lived experience 

- different community and cultural perspectives

- indigenous pathways

- refugee communities

- those who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training)

- different types of lived experience that impact on education

- requirements and selection Criteria  

Members must:

- be aged between 12 and 18 years 

- have the ability to work with other people and in a team

- share their own perspectives

- be approachable and an effective communicator

- be able to commit to the meeting schedule
