Highfield School - Minor Amendment

Overview

The Ministry of Education is proposing a minor amendment to the enrolment scheme of Highfield School.

This updated minor amendment is to ensure the map of the home zone is clearly aligned with the written description.

This will update the home zone map to clarify that an area of Mountain View Road that is shown on the map as inside the current home zone, is actually outside the boundary as described in the written description.

Additional small changes have also been made to other areas of the map to clarify the boundaries of the enrolment scheme home zone. One change is a simplification of the southern boundary along the river and another is the inclusion of 34 Kiwi Drive (West End Kindergarten) in the map. These changes ensure the map is better aligned with the written description and allows for a clearer understanding of the boundaries.

Therefore, a minor amendment is required to clarify the home zone boundary of Highfield School – as drawn.

The proposed commencement date of the minor amendment is 25 July 2022 (Term 3).

The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020.

Comments can be made to Canterbury.EnrolmentSchemes@education.govt.nz by 03 June 2022.

Following the notification period, the Ministry will consider any comments received and the minor amendment will be finalised and approved. 

What happens next

At the end of the notification period, the Ministry of Education will read any comments and process everything to ensure it meets the requirements of the Education and Training Act 2020. If the Ministry is satisfied that the enrolment scheme meets these requirements, the enrolment scheme will be finalised and provided to the Board.
