Closed 8 Dec 2022

Opened 10 Nov 2022

Overview

In collaboration with the Opiki School Board, Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | The Ministry of Education has developed a proposed amendment to Opiki School enrolment scheme.

The purpose of the amendment is to:

  • remove ambiguity
  • update the style of map and written description to align with current conventions
  • update outdated references to legislation from the Education Act 1989 to the Education and Training Act 2020
  • ensure that addresses included in the Opiki Transport Eligibility Zone (TEZ)  are also included in enrolment scheme home zone.

The proposed amended scheme description and zone map are available below.

Why your views matter

As part of this process we are formally consulting with whānau, hāpu, iwi, and with all people living in the area for which the school is a reasonably convenient school.

Please note, the enrolment scheme could affect which school a student will be entitled to enrol in.

What happens next

Please provide any comments about the proposed amendment that you would like to be included in the final report.

Once all submissions have been collated, we will work with the Opiki School Board to make amendments deemed appropriate to address any concerns.

We will respond to each of the submissions in writing.
