Queenspark School - Minor Amendment

Closed 17 Dec 2021

Opened 15 Nov 2021

Overview

The Ministry of Education is proposing a minor amendment to the enrolment scheme of Queenspark School.

The school has an enrolment scheme which has been in place since 2004. The enrolment scheme has remained unchanged since that time and the home zone needs updating to better identify which properties are within the zone.

At the time the enrolment scheme was drawn, residential development was underway, and the exact layout and naming of roads was uncertain. An update is needed to reflect actual road names.

The enrolment scheme home zone map was drawn to road boundaries. All new or amended zones are now drawn to Land Parcel boundaries to more precisely identify the properties that fall within the zone description, as this allows more accurate identification of in-zone addresses, particularly when using online search tools.

Therefore, a minor amendment is required to clarify the zone boundary of Queenspark School – both as written and as drawn.

This is deemed to be a minor amendment as there will be no change to any individual’s eligibility to enrol as a result of the amendment.

The commencement date of the minor amendment is 31 January 2022.

The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020.

Comments can be made to Canterbury.EnrolmentSchemes@education.govt.nz by 17 December 2021.

Following the notification period, the Ministry will consider any comments received and the minor amendment will be finalised and approved.

What happens next

At the end of the notification period, the Ministry of Education will read any comments and process everything to ensure it meets the requirements of the Education and Training Act 2020. If the Ministry is satisfied that the enrolment scheme meets these requirements, the enrolment scheme will be finalised and provided to the Board.
