Seeking sector feedback on updated guidance for curriculum criteria

Closes 26 Jul 2024

Opened 9 May 2024

The full framework of Te Whāriki: He whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa came into effect on 1 May 2024.

To support you to implement the expanded curriculum framework we have updated the curriculum licensing criteria guidance for one of the pathways - Te Ara Whānui. We want to know whether this guidance is clear for your service type (centre-based, home-based, hospital-based).

This survey sets out the current and updated guidance to make it clear what has been changed. A printable version is also provided below.

Please provide feedback through the survey.  While we will not be providing individual responses to feedback we will share insights gained from analysing survey responses when we publish the final guidance for services later in the year.

The consultation is open until 26 July to give you time to engage in the process. The survey allows you to skip questions, save feedback and come back to it later.

Key considerations

We want the guidance to:

  • reflect the bicultural nature of Te Whāriki and relationships inherent in Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • provide greater visibility to Te Whāriki online and direct links to other resources designed to support kaiako practice

and ensure that the language is:

  • consistent with Te Whāriki
  • familiar to kaiako
  • inclusive of all mokopuna and values diverse strengths and needs.

Why your views matter

This is a chance for you to have your say and help shape clear guidance for the sector.

If the guidance does not fit your service type (centre-based, home-based, hospital-based) you can provide information on what could make the guidance clearer.
