Overview

The Ministry of Education is proposing minor amendments to the enrolment schemes of Christchurch Girls' High School - Te Kura o Hine Wairoa and Christchurch Boys' High School.

Christchurch Girls' High School - Te Kura o Hine Wairoa and Christchurch Boys' High School have enrolment schemes which were amended in 2011 and have remained unchanged since that time. The enrolment schemes need to be updated to reflect changes to land parcel boundaries to more precisely identify the properties that fall within their home zones. This will allow for more accurate identification of in-zone addresses, particularly when using online search tools.

These minor amendments are therefore required. The written descriptions will also be updated to clarify boundaries and the enrolment schemes' wording will be updated to reflect the Education and Training Act 2020.

The proposed commencement date of these minor amendments is 01 January 2025.

The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020.

Comments can be made to Canterbury.EnrolmentSchemes@education.govt.nz by 12 March 2024.

Following the notification period, the Ministry will consider any comments received and process these minor amendments to ensure they meet the requirements of the Education and Training Act 2020. If the Ministry is satisfied that the enrolment schemes meet these requirements, the enrolment schemes will be finalised and provided to the school boards to implement.
