Clarkville Te Kura ki Waimātao - Minor Amendment

Overview

The Ministry of Education is proposing a minor amendment to the enrolment scheme of Clarkville Te Kura ki Waimātao.

Clarkville Te Kura ki Waimātao has an enrolment scheme which has not been updated for many years. The current enrolment scheme does not include a written description of the home zone and the current home zone map is drawn to old road boundaries and needs to be updated to land parcel boundaries to more precisely identify where properties on both sides of boundary roads are included in the home zone.

There has also been changes in roading since the home zone was originally drawn and the map will be updated to follow Ōhoka Road to the south of the Silverstream subdivision to clarify the intent of the original home zone before this residential development occurred.

A minor amendment is therefore required to include a written description and updated map for the home zone to clarify boundaries and to identify more accurately which addresses should be considered in-zone. This will allow more accurate identification of in-zone addresses, particularly when using online search tools. The enrolment scheme wording will also be updated to reflect the Education and Training Act 2020.

The proposed commencement date of this minor amendment is 01 January 2024.

The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020.

Comments can be made to Canterbury.EnrolmentSchemes@education.govt.nz by 30 November 2023.

Following the notification period, the Ministry will consider any comments received and process this minor amendment to ensure it meets the requirements of the Education and Training Act 2020. If the Ministry is satisfied that the enrolment scheme meets these requirements, the enrolment scheme will be finalised and provided to the school board to implement.
