Please rate each priority to help us understand which you think are the most important (with 1 being the lowest importance, and 5 being the highest importance).

In 2018 as a part of Kōrero Mātauranga the Ministry of Education held more than 40 wānanga with whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori.

We have organised the kōrero you gave us at these wānanga, and at subsequent hui, into five domains to assist us prioritise our actions and resources.

Together, we identified these priorities:

  • Te Whānau – education services should provide for learners within the context of their whānau
  • Te Tangata – education services should be free from racism, discrimination and stigma
  • Te Kanorautanga – education services should recognise that Māori are diverse and whānau have diverse aspirations and lived experiences
  • Te Tuakiritanga –education services should support the identity, language and culture of Māori learners and their whānau, and the growth and development of the Māori language
  • Te Rangatiratanga – education services should support whānau, hapū, iwi and Māori to exercise their agency and authority over the education of their tamariki/mokopuna.

Please rate each priority to help us understand which you think are the most important.
