Disabled tertiary population survey

Overview

 

The National Disabled Students Association supported by the Ministry of Education, the Tertiary Education Commission and NZQA are hosting focus groups online and across the country as the next stage of the Disabled Tertiary Population Survey. The focus groups are open to all currently enrolled disabled tertiary learners including those who did not participate in the survey.

The focus group locations are:

Wednesday 13th September 2:00-4:00PM Otago Room, University of Otago, Dunedin Campus

Thursday 14th September 2:00-4:00PM Room 1.05 Ministry of Education 48 Hereford Street Christchurch

Friday 15th September 9:30-11:30AM Room 1.01 Ministry of Education 48 Hereford Street Christchurch

Wednesday 20th September 1:30-3:30PM Room M.02 Ministry of Education 1 The Terrace, Wellington

Friday 22nd September 1:00-3PM Microsoft Teams

Monday 25th September 6:30-8:30PM Microsoft Teams

Tuesday 26th September 11:00AM-1:00PM Oroua Room Ministry of Education 1/3 Oxford St, Hokowhitu, Palmerston North

Wednesday 27th September 9:30-11:30 AM Microsoft Teams

Thursday 28th September 1:00-3:00PM Maungakiekie Room, Ministry of Office 12-18 Normanby Road, Mount Eden, Auckland Office

Saturday 30th September 2:00-4:00PM Microsoft Teams – this session will be NZSL accessible with interpreters present.

If you join online, you will need to email DTPS.Mailbox@education.govt.nz to express your interest to receive the Microsoft Teams link for your preferred focus group. You do not need a Microsoft account to join the meeting. You will also need to email a completed copy of the consent form below to DTPS.Mailbox@education.govt.nz. If you attend an in-person focus group there will be physical copies of the same consent form for you to complete. Your email will be deleted after the link has been sent and we have received your consent form.

Please read the participant information sheet attached below for more information on the focus groups before you attend one. If you have any questions, please contact the DTPS.Mailbox@education.govt.nz email address.

You are welcome to bring support people such as whānau, family, friends, caretakers, or interpreters to the focus groups. We will be providing NZSL interpreters for the online Saturday 30th September focus group.

What happens next

Thank you for participating in this survey! The National Disabled Students Association, Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission, New Zealand Qualifications Authority will be conducting focus groups in the coming months to dig deeper into the results of this survey.
