Bay of Islands College

Overview

The Ministry of Education is currently working with the Board of Bay of Islands College to establish a new enrolment scheme. 

Enrolment schemes are needed to help manage enrolments across schools.  This allows School Boards to manage the risk of overcrowding.

Enrolment schemes do mean that choice is limited in this area – all whanau will be able to attend a school that is reasonably close to them but it might not be Bay of Islands College.  (Note - students already enrolled at a school before the zone is started are able to stay at their current school).

It’s important that we hear and understand community thoughts before we start  this new scheme – especially the practical information, whether the new boundaries accurately reflect the area.

The Ministry of Education is currently undertaking consultation about the new enrolment scheme. You can have your say by:

Ministry will consider all feedback and talk with the Board before making a final decision. The zone and will come into effect for term 3 2024.
